Wilderness Campground offers a simple, natural camping experience near Algonquin Provincial Park, with large sites, privacy, ponds, a small creek, and a less structured atmosphere. It is not for everyone.
Like camping anywhere in this part of Ontario, expect seasonal bugs, newly planted trees, and some areas that are still maturing.
Think of it as a cross between traditional park camping and camping in the forest: more freedom, more space, and a quieter atmosphere. Premium & Private Sites
Sites like Two Rivers, Rock, Canoe, Peck, Timberwolf, Smoke, Whitefish, and Opeongo offer extra space and seclusion—perfect for campers looking for privacy and a peaceful setting.
Sites that need more trees
Sites including St Andrews, Cedar, Tom Thompson, Cache, Galeairy, Lost Coin, and Whiskey Jack are closer to the pond and offer beautiful wildlife viewing. Throughout 2025, guests spotted a blue heron, baby ducks, and even a visiting fox in this area.
These sites are the focus of our tree-planting efforts, and we’re actively working to increase privacy as the campground continues to mature.
🚿 Comfort Station & Amenities
Our comfort station is fully operational and includes:
- Two accessible bathrooms with running water and electricity
- Two outdoor shower systems with on-demand water heaters
- A solar power system, backed up by a generator for cloudy days
- Fresh water hose, sink, and cell phone charging lockers
Potable water is available at the comfort station, and non-potable fire water is accessible throughout the campground. Our ponds are also beginning to flourish with new greenery, adding to the natural beauty of the site.
🚗 Expanded Space & What’s Next
The area previously marked under construction has now been leveled, creating ample additional parking. We have exciting plans for this space and look forward to sharing more soon.
🌱 Looking Ahead to 2026
Our main focus for the coming season is tree planting. We’re aiming to plant and care for 200 new trees to enhance privacy and long-term comfort across the campground.
Thank you again for being part of this journey. We’re excited about what’s ahead—and we can’t wait to welcome you back.
Stay tuned for more updates!
